George Washington Crossing the Delaware
This picture, though not of Benedict Arnold, depicts the Revolutionary War, not as the bloody series of battles that it was, but as glorious and magnificent. This, to some extent, is how Arnold viewed his involvement in the war. He was a military genius and was key in the United States’ victory in many important battles, but when he did not get proper recognition and honor for those achievements, he became resentful towards his country.
